Question
we have a small shop doing furniture restoration we redid a table and the family had there floors redone and while doing so left this coffe table out in the sun ,cracking the finnish on the leather ,were in the process of redoing table and want to replace gold inlay possibly using stencil do u have any ideas to speed up this process ,a special coating to keep this from happening again ? leather contracts and expands is there any new products out there?

Answer
Hey Tom, what finish did you use? A vinyl sealer and Vinyl lacquer should be used over leather,as it's much more flexible than nitro, shellac or a urethane..Mohawk makes an aerosol here:

I am not aware of an easy way to replace gold tooling...it's usually gold foil or real gold leaf and it's heat embossed onto the leather and  applied very carefully in a multi step process.Regards- Greg
