Question
I have had my table 30yrs and was told when i bought it to dust lightly or wipe with a damp cloth not to polish it. my daughter when she was small sprayed it with household polish and it has had a slight dull finish ever since, on top of that it now has a white bloom where a hot dish was placed on it, can you please tell me if it can be cleaned and restored.  thank you. Hi Sue, it's likely that it is either Lacquer or Oil finished..the white ring makes me think maybe lacquer. It can be both cleaned AND restored, but it might be worth having a Pro come evaluate it with you. Dining tables are not a job for the novice, and one could easily ruin the finish by going it alone without the proper knowledge....Hope that helps a little- over here, Restorers will give free estimates with a free house call, usually.
