Question
My kitchen cabinets are covered in melamine.  My husband peeled the melamine off of two of the doors.  Can I paint these doors now?  If so... do I seal them first and what would be the best type of paint to use?  The cabinets are made of pressed particle board under the melamine. I was concerned that the cabinets would "swell" from absorbing the paint.  Your expertise would be very much appreciated.

Hi Teresa...is there glue left from the melamine?? I suppose a PVA primer might be a good bet....but thin, quick coats with good dry time in between. (maybe 3 coats with a fine sanding with 220-320 before the last coat) then a good topcoat like Benjamin Moore's Satin Impervo. Happy Holidays- Greg
