Question
I see log furniture that still has the bark intact.  It has a type of sealant on it.  How do the builders keep the bark from shelling off?  Is it the type of sealant used?

Answer
Hi Mariam,  Yes a sealer, several coats of clear polyurethane or spar varnish.  It is also best that the wood be cut from the tree in late fall or winter.  You also must physically check to see that the bark is securely attached to the wood and not flaking off.  Thanks for the question.
