Question
what can I put on my dark walnut wood work to make it shiny?  Alot of the woodwork is shiny in places, and when I wipe an oil cleaner on it looks great but it only last for a few days. Can you help?

Answer
Hi Brandi
Nice to hear from you.
Not sure what you mean by an Oil cleaner, but first wipe off the trim with a rag dipped in mineral spirits. This will remove oil cleaner and any grime.
Then get a can of gloss tung oil and wipe on a coat.
You can freshen it this way every year if you like.
Test a small area first.
Hope this helps

Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
