Question
Hi.
I am custom designing a boardroom table. the top is American white oak timber and the base will be a slab of marble (3760mm Long and 610mm Wide) to support the timber top. I am not 100 percent sure how I should attach these together??? Any Ideas would be very helpful! :)

Answer
Hi Miss Bailey,

You will need to use either a silicone "adhesive" or a two part-epoxy to attach the wood to the marble.   Of course, after gluing them together, the top will not easily ever be able to be removed.  If you are looking for something removable, use a smaller, thin slab of wood in between the marble and table top.  You would need to have professional threaded holes drilled in to the marble. You run the risk of the marble cracking if you attempt to drill the holes yourself. Then attach the thin wood to the marble using screws into the pre-drilled holes till it is secure. Then place the tabletop on top of the thin wood and screw them together from underneath. Thanks for an interesting question. Good Luck with your project and have a good day.
