Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/Repairs

Question
Hi Jamie,
Don’t know if you remember me or not, but I took a class at Copley HS through A of U about 6 or 7 years ago.

Any rate, I did something foolish and broke a leg off a table that I was moving. I see on your site that you don’t do repairs (and being in LV, I don’t think you could help any way!) but I was wondering if you could recommend anyone in the Akron area who does do furniture repair? You’re input would be greatly appreciated.

Hope things are going well for you in LV! I still use the coffee table and jewelry box I made in your class. My wife asked me where I bought them the first time she saw them!!

Take care,

Ken

Answer
Hi Ken,

Good to hear from you, if you're the Ken I'm thinking of, I totally remember you. I don't know of any repair shops in Akron anymore. There used to be a couple of them, but I believe they've closed up. I have a suggestion, though.

Two of my old students have small woodworking shops/businesses and from time to time, I have sent people to them for help. You might try contacting wither of them, and see if they might try to fix your table. No guarantees, but they're both very nice guys, and would probably be able to help. Make sure you tell them I sent you to them.

The first is Bob Ingersoll, he lives in Fairlawn, sort of behind where Borders used to be on West Market. His phone number is 330-666-1811. He has a fully equipped woodshop, and a small woodworking business that is quite successful. I would try him first.

Next is Randy Moon, who lives out in Copley, off White Pond Drive. His number is 330-873-9513. I don't know how much woodworking Randy is doing right now, but for a while, he was working at it full time, making rustic furniture.

I'm pretty sure one of these two should be able to help you out. Good luck, hope this helps! Nice to hear from you!

Jamie
