Question
Hi there , I wish to put some boxwood stringing into a chair toprail . What would be the best method of doing this ? I.e. can it be done with a scratch ? Timber is 2mm wide .
Hi Rob, this is pretty advanced woodworking, and needs to be done accurately, but a scratch stock is a good way of doing it. Garrett Hack has a nicely designed, simple scratch blade and a video showing his technique. Stopped inlays, (like a rectangle, square, etc.) require accurate layout and clean up at the corners with chisels/carving tools...but start here, hope that helps- regards- Greg
