Question
I spilled the scented oil with sticks on my dresser which is a deep brown varnish. The varnish came off and is very sticky. It also dripped down one side. I didn't touch it because it too was coming off. How to I fix it?
Hi Annette, it's much more likely your dresser is lacquered...Varnish would have probably survived this type of spill. There is no easy way to fix this, as it has removed the finish, and trying to spot repair lacquer, especially a dark lacquer is almost impossible, and NOT a DIY job. You'll have to consult with a Prof. Restorer/refinisher to refinish the affected surfaces...lacquer has to be sprayed on, and likely color matched or toned, and this is definitely a job for a Pro.
