Question

Organ veneer
I recently began a project to refurbish a 110 year old reed organ.  The front had decorative veneer that has seen better days.  It is almost totally cracked and dilapidated.  It has cut-out designs on it.  I want to replace rather than rapair these.  Who do I find that supplies veneer.  The case is cuban mahagony - i suppose these are as well?

Answer
Hey Chuck:   the picture is very dark and difficult to really see. here is a site that will have what you need. They can also guide you in how to do it if you contact them.  http://www.veneersupplies.com/products/Mahogany-Cuban-Curly-Veneer-Sheet--675-x-...  You will need to first carefully remove the old veneer, remove any old glue residue, sand, apply new veneer, clamp and press down 24 hrs and then match the finish.  Not terribly difficult to do, if you are handy.  If this is a valuable antique, I suggest you try to match original materials as well as you can. You will probably need to use hide glue. Thanks for the question and good luck with your project.
