Question
I have a 3 litre can of a fairly volatile wood finish.  As I
am an amateur woodworker I only use small amounts a few
times a year.
I have found that if there is any air inside the can, the
finish hardens quite quickly and becomes unusable.
I could keep the can topped up with stones or some
impervious substance but this seems a bit clumsy.  I have
tried inverting the can after use but this does not work.
Any suggestions?

Hey Bill, you could decant it into a few smaller containers, thereby minimizing the airspaces,and only having to worry about the emptiest can. Over here they sell quart containers empty at most paint and hardware stores, and they're metals paint type cans and very inexpensive..... and you use a product like Bloxygen:
