Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/cross cut tiger oak

Question
I have stripped off antiquing paint on a tiger oak buffet, sanded to 220, and want to stain and finish it now.  I don't want the honey oak color and prefer a darker brown and a hand rubbed soft satin finish look.
There are so many options online that it's overwhelming.  Do you have a clear suggestion?

Answer
Hey Dennis, there's many ways to do what you want there, but on Oak like this I prefer using Dye stains. Then you could use a wipe on Satin poly, Tung Oil finish, etc. I also use dye stains and then Gel stains over the Dyes, for increased color depth sometimes, depending on the look I want....General makes all of these things including the excellent and "goof Proof" Satin Gel Wipe On Topcoat- and excellent wipe on finish. WoodCraft would be your source, and it's DEFINITELY worth seeking out these superior products....the Waterborne dyes, Gel stains, and Gel topcoat. Hope that helps- post back if need be- Greg
