Question
I have just had my porch lined from floor to ceiling with tongue and groove cladding. I intend to apply a colour wash to it but can you advise if there is anything I should do to the wood before and after the colour wash.

Hi Marion, it really depends a lot on the look you're after as to how many steps you'll want to take. I wouldn't do anything before, but you may want to apply a clear sealer after your wash technique, to protect the surface and add some degree of 'washability' to the paneling. A waterborne urethane is a good choice, very clear, low odor, and available in a flat, stain, semi-gloss, etc....unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with what's available to you over there,so it's hard for me to really guide you from here....hope that helps a little- post back if need be- regards- Greg
