Question
I just acquired an antique clock, that someone tried to back together very poorly with glue.  When they glued they didn't not back it back together properly.  So I need to disassemble the clock.  How do I remove the glue without damage?

Answer
Hi Kathy, without knowing what type of glue it is, I cannot offer advise on any solvent which might be used to soften  the glue.  Your best shot is to use a razor blade or other extremely sharp thin blade to score and cut through the join carefully being sure not to chop up the wood in the process.  Once you have the pieces apart, you can then remove the glue from each piece by gently scraping or sanding it off. This will be a very labor intensive and time consuming project but it can  work for you.  Thanks for the question and have a good day.
