Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/1980 Cabinet hinges

Question
Good Afternoon,

I am trying to replace the hinges on my 1980 cabinets and I can't anything that will work.  From online research I gather its an overlay hing.  Two screws go into the cabinet and three go into the door.  The cabinet door has a odd lip which means none of the new hinges will fit.  It's hard to describe I guess.  But we have tried all the overlay hinges at Lowes Homedepot and a cabinet store.  Not sure what else to do since the hinges are slowly breaking (plastic/spring bit pops out) and so the cabinets no longer stay closed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Kenza

Answer
Hi Kenza,

There are two places that I go to when I can't find the hardware that I need - and nine times out of ten, I can find what I need at one of these sites. Here are links to them:

Van Dykes is the best for older hardware!

http://www.vandykes.com/hardware-cabinet-hardware/c/393/filter/100000001310eq100

This site is a division of San Diego Hardware:

http://www.hardwaresource.com/hinges/CABINET+HINGES

I've queued up both pages on their hinge selections, so you can start searching for your hinge right from these pages.

If you can't find what you're looking for here, try taking a picture and sending it to me via All-Experts and I'll see if I can help you again.

Good luck, hope these two sites help!
