Question

antique provincial
Hell- I am considering buying a triple dresser with the idea of converting it to a bathroom double sink vanity. The dimensions are what I am looking for 72"x23"x 35". I have already gone to see it & structurally seemed extremely sturdy. All the drawers are fully functioning. The front detail and wood grain is beautiful. It needs to be cleaned up and minor glue to the molding on front. It has scuff marks on by the base area and corners. I have enclosed a picture. I have no idea on costs of getting it professional refinished and would be interested in your feedback. I'm being told the dresser is probably 1940- 1950's young old.

Answer
Hi Kim,It's a pretty dresser, but if you plan to put two sinks into it, the guts will need to be completely reworked and the drawers removed and made into false drawers to accommodate the plumbing. It also will need to be stripped and refinished with a finish that will withstand the moist/wet environment of a bathroom, not just 'cleaned up'. You're talking several hundred dollars at least to do this properly, and it's not a DIY job unless your experience and skill level are fairly high. Please post back if need be- regards- Greg
