Question
I bought an early 19th century tiger maple dresser that is missing its drawer knobs.  There are large holes where the original knobs screwed in to the drawers, but only the remnants of the knobs (all broken) in one of the drawers.  The knobs were one piece, maple and mushroom-shaped with a large threaded wooden screw protruding from the end that screwed directly into these holes.  I cannot find anybody on the inernet who sells these kinds of knobs.  Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Richard, I know exactly what these knobs look like, and I did a quick search on "wood threaded knobs" and found a site immediately...will they be the right size?...that I don't know...but Google will be your best friend here, and they're quite common in English furniture as well.I know a few dealers that have sets of these saved just to use on these old chests...but typically they hoard them like money.....hope that helps- post back if need be- regards- Greg
