Question
Hi Jamie
Hope you can answer this question for me. I have a couple of french provincial dressers that have wood panels in the doors. I want to replace these panels with chicken wire or fabric. Is there an easy way to pop these panels out?
Thanx
Carolyn

Answer
Carolyn,

That panel probably sits in a groove, called a dado, that runs all around the inside of that door. Although the panel isn't glued in the groove (it floats in place) - the frame around the panel is glued up around it. So it's going to be difficult to remove it without damaging the door significantly.

Without proper tools or the expertise to use them, replacing the solid panel with chicken wire or fabric is hard to accomplish. Sure, you can do it, but to do it correctly, and have it look nice - it's a difficult job. No easy way to "pop it out".

Sorry I don't have better news for you!
