Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/What length helical springs in no sag install?

Question
If I install no sag springs every four inches for a seat, what size helical spring do I use?  Although it's tempting to think that it should simply be 4 inches long I think this would be incorrect because it would result in trying to connect the helical spring from the bottom of one loop to the top of another.  It would slip off the top loop and therefore be ineffective because it would be too long.  Shouldn't it connect from the bottom of one loop to the bottom of another?  If so, what length of a helical spring would be best, 3 inches?  Thanks

Answer
Hi,

The helical spring should be slightly stretched,  it also doesn't have to connect loops that are right next to each other,  the helical spring can be placed at an angle to a loop that is farther away in order to get some stretch - just make certain that the angle of the helical spring is less than 45 degrees.
