Question
Hi Mark,

I'm replacing some elastic webbing on a small 2 seater sofa/daybed with Pirelli. Can you advise me on how much I need to stretch the webbing when I do this and should I be covering the webbing with something to prevent the cushions from marking?

Regards,
Mark.

Answer
Hi Mark,

If you are using the Pirelli webbing that is solid and beige in color stretch it by hand as much as you can - which should be about 4 inches at most.  If it is the woven type then stretch it about 6 or 8 inches.  Don't use a webbing stretcher or similar tool to stretch the webbing - just stretch it by hand.

It is not necessary to place a protective covering over the webbing unless you have a very delicate upholstery fabric such as a velvet,  in that case you should place a thin quilted pad over the webbing.

I hope this helps.
