Question
Hi Greg,
I am in the middle of using Rust-oleum's Cabinet Transformations, and have run into a problem.  I have had to use four coats of the bond paint to get complete coverage (and in certain areas, five coats).  I purchased two of the small kits - first thinking that one would be enough, considering my square footage.  I now need more of the bond coat, but I don't want to buy another $80 kit just for that - I already have an extra bottle of the de-glosser and two cans of the finishing coat.  The problem is that I can't figure out what kind of paint I can buy that would be similar to the bond coat - if that is even possible!
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Kay..I think you're over applying the bond coat...I don't believe you need "complete" coverage, the same way you don't with a primer...which is basically what it is.It really is a "bond" coat, designed to seal the surface and give the top coat "bite", and real coverage comes from the top coats...I also think it's a mistake to apply too heavy a coat(s)....have you watched the video on the website outlining the application process? You might be able to buy more directly from Rust-oleum, but I think you need to re-evaluate your application process....please post back if need be- regards- Greg
