Question
I have an enamel top kitchen set and would like to re-paint the chairs, and the legs of the table. Can I paint over the current paint rather than stripping first? What type of paint should I use?  Thank you

Answer
Hi Patricia
Yes, you can paint over this set without stripping.
But prep the surface well by sanding with 120 grit sandpaper. Then remove dust with a tack cloth or slightly dampened rag.
I would use a semi gloss acrylic paint for this job.
Great project

Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
