I am a senior who owns a contemporary solid oak dining room set etc.
I live in San Francisco and would appreciate recomm. of upholsterer for slip seats.

Hello Mr. Spinali,

Almost any upholsterer is qualified to do slip seats, since they are very simple to do.

Richard Andronaco,  445 Harrison St. S.F. is the very best upholsterer in the city.  552 9303,  he will upholster in fabric that you buy from another source and not from him.

An excellent upholsterer who "moonlights" and who would be my first choice, is Don Vu.  510 566 4357  Don will come to your house and pick up and deliver the seats.  He speaks with an accent and a little difficult to understand, but the quality of his work is supurb.  

To purchase your own upholstery fabric.  the best source in San Francisco is Berressi Fabrics on Bryant St. near 15th St.

A better source which is outside of S.F. is Boca Bargoon Fabrics in Hayward.  Take 101 south and use the San Mateo Bridge, they are right on the other side of the bridge.

Retail upholstery shops will often not upholster if you supply your own fabric, or charge a higher labor price if you do since they want to make the profit on the fabric, so you may want to find an upholsterer before you purchase your fabric.
