Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/Dresser tracks

Question
I have a 3 drawer dresser that I brought new from a local furniture store. The top two drawers seem to have problems with the tracks. As soon as i try and pull them out they come off the tracks. I thinks the tracks might have gotten stretched or something. I don't think the tracks were the best to begin with and I was wondering can I just replace them with stronger ones. I really like the dresser and would like to keep it.

Answer
Hi Jamie
Nice to hear from you.
Jamie without seeing these tracks, its hard to say what they are.
The tracks can be so varied.
In most cases, they can be fixed or replaced.
Do you have a local wood shop close?
They will advise and even replace...probably with something better.
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
