Question
We have prefab wood cabinets (cheap wood) but they do have a finish on them.  We painted the cabinets white (over 15 years ago).  We did not prime the cabinets before painting and now would like to remove the paint and leave the wood finsh.  I would like to remove the paint without damaging the finish.  Is there any way to do this?

Answer
Hi Debbie
Nice to hear from you.
There is no way to remove the paint and leave the underlying finish intact..it just cannot be done.
A complete stripping is called for here but it certainly will not harm the underlying wood. You will just have to refinish afterwards.

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
