AboutEileen Cronk Expertise Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.
Experience I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
Question I have a cherry finished coffee table and I have spilled nail polish remover on it. I am sick about it. I wiped it off as quick as I could but the damage was done. What can I do to repair it and is it something I can do myself? It matches two other table in my livingroom.
Thanks
Answer Hi Sandy
Oh I am so sorry this has happened.
If you lived near me I would say "bring the table over and we will fix it", unfortunately we can't do that, but this can certainly be fixed.
Find a reputable refinisher in your area, and let them fix it for you as this is a job for a pro.
If I was charging for this job, it would be under $50.00 to fix.
The repair will involve stripping the top and replacing the finish...very minor for a pro.
Good Luck
Eileen
