Question
I bought a new cream color dining room table--painted and probably finished with some kind of flat lacquer.  Can I change the color to white?

Answer
Hi Kim
Nice to hear from you.
Absolutely you can paint this table.
Surface prep is the most important part of this or any paint job we tackle.
In this case a light sanding with 120 grit paper is all thats required.
Then a coat of quality primer and two coats of your color choice in a quality paint.
I would use water based semi gloss enamel for this but its your choice.
Kindest Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
