Question
I'm looking for some ideas of how to paint my 7 drawer dresser.  I purchased the dresser from Gothics three years ago and attempted to stain it myself.  It look horrible.  I do not wish to restain the dresser, but instead I'm looking for ideas (preferably two tones) that I can paint the dresser, what type of paint to use and should I change the knobs for a more richer look?

Lastly, where can I find books or a website with some ideas?

Answer
Hi Yolanda
Nice to hear from you.
Sorry the chest turned out bad the first time.
There are thousands of sites to help with this great project.
Heres a starting place
http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=painting+furniture&meta=
Always use a good quality latex paint.
I have often spray painted the existing handles on dressers so keep that in mind instead of changing.
Pewter or gold are 2 good choices for handle color.
And look over the sites I sent and get back to me if you have questions.
Kindest Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
