Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/Refinishing a crib

Question
Hello! I am interested in finding out about re-staining a crib...what product should I use for a child crib? I see teeth marks from a previous owners child and I am just wondering if stain can harm a baby or if I should just go with a Latex paint? Any help would be wonderful! Thank you.

Answer
Hi Heather
Nice to hear from you.
I must go along with your thinking here and recommend just a latex. Apparently they make one that is child safe.
You could certainly check out the toxicity of water based stain. It will be on the label. Funny enough its not something I ever paid attention to I guess because my family is grown.
Some kids will chew the heck out of crib rails and some don't bother. But you never know which one LOL.
Thanks for bringing this topic up as we all need reminders of these things.
Kindest Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
