Question
My home is approx 8 years old and the maple cabinets have turned a yellow/orange color. Is there any product that will restore the original color or at least minimize the orange tone without stripping?
Thank you-

Answer
Hi Kathleen
Nice to hear from you.
No product that I know of for this.
This could be the natural aging process of this wood (as wood gets older it darkens), or it could be the finish that has colored and turned this yellow orange you dislike.
My guess is the finish.
A test will tell you the answer. A bit of stripper in a hidden area will suffice.
Personally I would strip the entire set of cabinets.
Theres just no easy fix for this.
Good Luck and great question
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
