Question
Hi.  I have an antique cherry bed with a walnut stain.  This bed has all kinds of decals and stickers on it from my brothers that are at least 30 years old.  If you try to remove them the top layer comes off but the "sticky" part stays put. How do I remove them without damaging the finish or the bed?  Thank you for helping!  Heidi

Answer
Hi Heidi
Nice to hear from you.
Oh I hate these things LOL..but I have did it a time or two myself.
These can easily be removed with a very fine steel wool pad dipped in varsol (mineral spirits).
Will also clean away years of grime.
Then a nice waxing.
Good Luck and a great question
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
