Question
My teak wood had a greenish tone which i read was mold. So I used clorox bleach cleaner, with a brush, it removed all the green and the teak tone or oil it had. Now it looks white. What can I use to make it look nice? What are the choices? what would require little maintenance? I applied some teak oil finish but it doesn't get absorbed evenly

Answer
Hi Wanita
Nice to hear from you.
It sounds like you will need to apply a stain on this bleached teak wood.
You will need to remove the oil you have applied first.
In this case I think perhaps some mineral spirits and a steel wool pad dipped in it as a scrubber will take the oil off.
If not you will have to use paint stripper.
Then stain, then 3 or 4 coats of the oil should give a good finish.
Good Luck

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
