Question
Can you give me any suggestions on where to find Tuckernut, cabinet grade plywood in the Southern California area?  I am planning to reface my kitchen cabinets.  I have cherry veneer for the frames but I would like my son to make new cabinet doors and stain both the doors and the frames in a cherry stain?  Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Vicki,

The only place I've purchased Tuckernut is at McKillican, which has a store in Hayward, CA. I have no idea if that's close to you or not. Their site is www.mckillican.com.

You also might try Austin Hardwoods, which could possibly carry it. Their site is www.austinfirst.com.

Finally, try Peterman Lumber (www.petermanlumber.com) I've recently started buying from them and I think it's likely that they carry Tuckernut.

Out of all these places, I like Peterman the best. Their prices are very good, and they seem to have a knowlegable employees, who are happy in their jobs.  My pet peeve is with salespeople who act like they hate their jobs, which I don't find at Peterman. They're pretty helpful there, and I recommend them.

Good luck, hope this helps.
