Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/Tung oil

Question
I have a bamboo floor for only 3 years now. I have to refinish it. I plan to sand it, stain it and then coat it with tung oil. I know tung oil works great with wood. Will it the same with bamboo?

Thank you for help.

Answer
Louise,

Bamboo is a unique rather recent use for hardwood floors (within  the last five years) and reacts like hardwoods of similar density, such as white maple.   Oil doesn't get a lot of penetration, but I understand that tung oil is used frequently by some hardwood floor manufacturers and works with keeping the natural tones and colors of the wood.  It sounds like a good choice, even if the wood is bamboo.  Keeps the look more natural than most surface finishes such as urethane.   I don't see a problem.
