Question
Mark,

We have successfully re-upholstered our dining room chairs.  Is it necessary to screw the pads into the chairs?  We'd like the option to easily remove the pads for cleaning.

Thanks.

John

Answer
HI,  if the slipseats sit behind a recessed groove, so they do not lay loose on top of the seat and can not slide off then it should not be necessary to screw them down.  Older, high quality chairs have what is known as a recessed slip seat, they fit into a recessed area and they should not be screwed down at all.

Only if the slip seats lay flat on top of the chair and could slide off should they be screwed down.

I hope this answers your question.
