Question
Hi Eileen,
I hate my kitchen cabinets, they are cherrywood and the painters pickled them, can they be painted white and what would be involved in getting them ready to be painted white? They turned out to have a yellow tint. Thank you so much for your help.

Answer
Hi Annette
Nice to hear from you.
Of course your cabinets can be painted white or any color you desire.
A good scrub with TSP using medium steel wool as a scrubber is all the prep needed.
Then a coat of primer then your top coat of paint.
If the hinges show when the doors are closed, they will need to be removed so you do not get paint on them.
And of course and knobs or handles if there are any.
Good Luck
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
