Question
Hello, I just moved into a furnished apartment and got a lacquer or lacquer like dresser.  It's green and not really my style.  I want to put something over it (some tile like material maybe) but want to be able to remove it once my lease is up.  Is there any hope of doing something about this other than putting a blanket over the dresser?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Debbie
Nice to hear from you.
Not a good idea to put tile directly on this piece if its not yours, and a blanket would make it tricky to use.
Why not a piece of wood cut the size of the dresser top, then the tiles stuck on the wood.
Easy to remove when you leave.
And to hide the rest why not a full skirt?
Imagime a full skirt for yourself with just elastic ran through the waist. Then imagine one on the dresser only keep the front seam open so you can slide the material aside to get in the drawers.
Hope this helps
Great question
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
