Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/latex paint spill on wood dining table

Question
Hello.  This morning found that a container of exterior latex paint has seeped out of its container and puddled off  of the newspaper it was sitting on and onto my dining table, which is cherry finished with danish oil.  I was able to clean all the paint off (it had just developed a skin, not dried) with cloth and water.  There is a dark stain, which shows the wood grain, esp. dark where paint first seeped out, lightening as it reaches the edge of area affected.  Any suggestions are very welcome!!!

Answer
Hi Amy
Nice to hear from you.
So sorry this has happened.
I do know that varsol (mineral spirits) will remove latex from carpet..yes I tried it and was very surprised that it removed it.
I also know varsol will remove latex paint spatters off furniture..tried that too.
So I would try it on your table.
Dip a superfine steel wool pad in the varsol and rub with the grain.
Thats the only suggestion I have Amy.
Good Luck
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
