Question
I HAVE PAINTED A WOODEN CHAIR WITH ACRYLIC ARTIST PAINTS. CAN i USE A WATER BASED POLYCRYLIC PROTECTIVE FINISH TO PROTECT THE CHAIR FROM EVERYDAY USE?

Answer
Hi Jerry
Nice to hear from you.
Certainly it is recommended that a finish be put over such work.
I actually took several courses in this art and we always put a protective finish on our projects.
As long as you use water based over water base there should not be a problem, but personally I would use an acrylic clear coat (which is possibly what your polycrylic finish is, I have just never heard the name)
I recommend a test first if you can.
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
