Question
Hello,
I recently bought a used china cabinet that has some latex paint splatters and spots.  How can I remove these without damaging the finish?

Answer
Hi Linda
Nice to hear from you.
Funny enough I have been sucessful removing latex paint spatters from furniture with varsol..also known as mineral spirits.
Even removed latex paint from a carpet with the stuff after all other attempts failed.
One is oil based, one is water based..go figure.
Use super fine steel wool dipped in the varsol and gently rub. Then a nice bit of waxing.
If its on the carpet use a rag instead of the steel wool LOL..just thought I'd throw that in.
Good Luck and great question
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
