Question
My son's crib which was factory made, and very expensive I might ad, is terribly scratched and dented. Is there anything I can do to repair the scratches and gouges even though it's factory made? Other's who have purchased the same furniture have had the same problem and have had great difficulty contacting the manufacturer.

Answer
Hi Liza
Nice to hear from you.
Liza I need a bit more info here.
When you say "repairing factory manufactured wood", I think of the stuff that is like MDF board. Its not really wood but made from glues and wood fibers I think.
Is this what you mean?, or is this real wood?
If its not real wood, it can be sanded to remove the scratches, and the holes can be filled with wood filler and the entire crib sanded and painted.
And if it is real wood, the same can be done, but then you will be forced to paint and perhaps thats not what you desire.
Please get back to me. I am interested in this.
Kindest Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
