Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/sanding away paint

Question
Hi,
I have a very large built in wall unit. About 7 years ago during a moment, or should I say days of not thinking I sprayed my wall unit with a paint that has a bubble texture. Now of course I hate it. I want to remove this bubble paint and want to know if I can just sand it off, or do I need to strip it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Answer
Hi Robin
Nice to hear from you.
I feel this would be a pretty long job if you try to sand this off. Also very dusty.
But if you are going to repaint, you certainly do not need to strip.
So perhaps if you are painting, there will be no need to entirely sand the piece.
Just get it smooth for painting.
Not too many options with this type of job I'm afraid.
Good Luck

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
