Question
how do I apply veneer on wood cabinets.my cabinets are in fairly good shape but are styled from the 1970's.I would like to change to oak. will I need to replace doors or can I veneer over existing doors?

Answer
Hi Lloyd
Nice to hear from you.
If your doors are perfectly flat you could veneer over them, but the proper way to do this would be to remove all existing finish and sand each door.
Contact cement is used to apply the veneer, but you must be fully knowledgeable in this before you start.
Here is a site that explains exactly what you are getting into and how to do it.
He throws in lots of humor too.

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
