Question
Hi, looking to find out if there is a way to repair a white spot from a hot dish placed on my kitchen wood table? Also is there any way to protect the wood to avoid future problems? I don't remember having this problem with my butcher block table.

Answer
Hi Ann
Nice to hear from you.
Doesn't matter how careful we are, these things happen.
As a home remedy try either some mayo from the fridge, or some vegetable oil from the salad.
Simply rub it on with a rag.
In most cases these home remedies do a pretty good job if the damage is not extensive.
For more extensive damage, a product like this may be necessary

Good Luck and great question

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
