Question
We have a very large saguaro (about 12 feet) and it has started  rotting from the bottom about 3-4 feet. Now it looks like it will fall down. Can it be saved?? If so how??
Thank You,
Katie Khan

Answer
Katie,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, forgot to set my vacation message. Has it become mushy or is there a black ooze coming from anywhere? If it is still firm then there may be a chance. Saguaro's generally only rot in response to too much water. If there is a drip system within 6 feet or so, turn it off. It would help to see a picture, please send to greg8365@hotmail.com if possible.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Greg
