Question
I have several 'Christmas Cactus' (mother and several cuttings) which have very narrow leaves, much different than the wider leafed plants I see for sale these days.  Can you please tell me the difference between wide-leaf and narrow-leaf varities.  The flowers on my plants are identical to the ones on the plants I see for sale now.

Answer
Hello Carrol,
The leaves of the Christmas cactus plants vary somewhat from one cultivar to another. These may vary in size from small to large. Some have rounded foliage, while others have long, narrow leaves. ‘Alice’ is noted for its holly-like leaves.

Experience

Due to the arid climate here in Nevada, I grew up planting cacti and shrubs to design my landscapes. As years went on, I learned the different ways on taking care of these amazing cacti, especially how to propagate them.

Education/Credentials
During the past few years, I have tried out many methods in growing cacti, especially when it comes to propagation. I learned the dangers of over-watering, and have researched that people often make common mistakes. That is why I joined to be part of AllExperts.
