Question
When trying to root aloe vera how much soil to use and how much light thank you
I am assuming that you are trying to root a leaf? They are more easily propagated by pups, but if you only have a leaf, let it callous for a couple of weeks and place about 1/3 in the soil. The amount of soil depends on the size of your leaf. I would put it in a pot no much wider than the leaf. Leave it in bright,indirect light. I wouldn't water it until I saw shoots. Until then, just mist.

I can answer questions regarding the care and propagation of cactus and succulents and would actually group these together as folks often mistake one for the other and often their care is quite different. I also have a cold hardy cactus and succulent garden that has been quite successful. The subject in regard to classification of type is enormous and I wouldn't be able to answer all questions by any means.
