Question
We have an agave that has several new agave starts  growing around the base of the more adult one.  Should I remove them? and if so, is their a proper way of transplanting them?

Answer
Dear June,

You don't need to remove them unless you want to. If you do, be very careful as most Agave have very stout spines. Get as much of the root as you can, then let it sit out and "heal" for a week or so before replanting. If they are in the ground, make sure to mark the south side of the plant and then re-orient it facing the south side of the plant to the south. This will keep it from getting sun burnt. Hopes this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg
