Cactus/My Aloe is dying...please help!!!

Question
I got Aloe vera stem from meijer's and since august it was doing OK (it was not growing but was green). I live in illinois and now as the weather is cold I have kept the plant inside. It is dying fast. Nearly 95% of the stem looks brown. Please give me some suggestions to save it.

Answer
Veena,

If it is dying from the soil up, and that much of it is dead, then there is really no way to save it. Aloe's are very tricky anyway when it comes to taking cuttings, but what I have found is that the more stem you have that is healthy, the better. Sorry for the bad news.

Sincerely,

Greg
