MY HUSBAND FOUND A PIECE OF THE COMMON CACTUS OUTSIDE AND I WANTED TO KNOW THE PROPER WAY TO REPLANT IT.  IT HAS GROWN SOME SMALL ROOTS AND I PLANTED IT IN DIRT.  IT LOOKS THINNER THAN IT HAD, WILL IT GROW?

It should. If there were roots present, make sure that you water it. Let the soil dry between waterings and it should be OK. You may want to add some "Superthrive" to the water. It is available at most nurseries and greatly improves your chances of success. Hope this helps.
